Spanglish

Spanglish refers to a mix of Spanish and English spoken by many Americans of Latin origin, and nearly every Spanish language student in America. As members of the Video Sewer staff have also taken Spanish in school we can say definitively; “The movie Spanglish is el mas mejor pelicula - featuring that puto Adam Sandler - since The Wedding Singer.

What I’m saying is it’s one Sandler movie that proves that he might be a human being, and I quite like his comedy albums.

Spanglish tells the heartwarming story of a mother-daughter team of Mexican émigrés who find the meaning of life and family through the auspices of wealthy Angelinos John and Deborah Clasky (Sandler and Tea Leoni.)

Many funny sequences and poignant moments that tug on the heartstrings will pull you through the two-plus hours of Spanglish until you reach the end and think: “Spanglish is over, now I can get on with livin,’ yeahhh!”

Writer Director James L. Brooks, who has given the world the wonder that is The Simpsons, proves that not only does he know what makes a family of yellow cartoon characters tick, but he also has a deep understanding of the issues facing female illegal immigrants and their daughters.

Spanglish is truly a wonder.
